Migration of The Golden People, by Judy Baca, made in 2001
|
Hello, so after looking at some art at the
Museum of Latin American Art (MOLA) online page. I really looked at the Judy Baca exhibition and that is where I found the image of the art above this text. Just listen to that title "Migration of the Golden People" it really shows the heart of where this artist lies. It also really shows the absolute beautifulness in people from across the globe who migrate and how they are becoming golden people by beating the standards of where they are from. They chose and wanted a better life for themselves, family, and their future children and they took the risk of getting killed, lost, forgotten, and they came out alive and well and in a new better life.

After doing some investigating, a google search, of what this "Migration of the Golden People" mean to the artist and to the "Golden People" ive have seen some inspirational stuff. This mural is for the CARECEN which is short for Central American Resource Center in Los Angeles, Ca and its suppose to represent a lot. This piece of magnificent art represents "terror of military oppression, but also forcefully express a determintaiton to resist, whether by taking arms or joining a silent protest march" which is something huge to just draw a mural for (Baca). We are even doing this today with Black Lives Matter, Asian Lives Matter, LGBTQ+ Lives Matter, and many many more marches for equality and to fight back oppression in being one's self. Judy Baca is one amazing artist to create something huge back then and now its massive to this day with oppresion being seen everyday and still have "golden people" fighting back.

"Golden" People |
Looking through all the arts that were displayed in the online page of the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLA) all had deep meaning but the one that hit me the most is the "Migration of the Golden People". I took this one of two way I saw the "Golden People" look and I saw the duality of it all how one side is very colored and the other side is very old colored which makes me think about the story for when my mom's side of the family migrated to the U.S. and my father by himself migrated to the U.S., they are both legal now, any ICE members reading. This really resignated with me showing how they, my parents and other migrants or people in general, are the golden people beating the odds and going above and beyond. The second way I took this amazing work of art is how "the Golden People" is everybody who doesn't go by the "normal" way of life, being "normal" is boring but being you, which would be weird to others but just fine with you and friends, is the best way to live. Realizing you are special and you are powerful, you are the Golden People who beat the odds and overcome the trouble resignates in us all and we are all unique in our own way, there are no other you's who can take your gift of being you.
